What is Botox?
Botox is a natural, purified protein that relaxes muscles by blocking nerve impulses. Once the muscles are at rest, the skin becomes smoother, creating a more natural and relaxed appearance.

What is Botox made of?
Botox is a formulation of Botulinum Toxin type A, a natural purified protein.

How is Botox different from other procedures?
Botox blocks nerve transmission to relax the underlying muscles beneath the skin. The effect is not permanent, lasting about four months.

How is Botox different from fillers?
Botox is a protein that relaxes the muscles that create lines whereas filler is an agent that fills in the lines.

Is Botox approved by the FDA?
Botox Cosmetic was approved by the FDA in April 2002 for cosmetic use.

How safe is Botox?
Botox has safely treated a variety of conditions for more than 15 years.

What area do you treat?
Botox has been traditionally used to treat frown lines, forehead creases and crow's feet around the eyes.

How long does the procedure take?
Botox injections take approximately 10 minutes to administer.

Do the injections hurt?
Most of our Botox patients compare the sensation of receiving an injection to a bug bite. Overall, the discomfort should be minimal and temporary.

What should I do prior to treatment?
The use of aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications and alcohol should be stopped approximately two days before treatments to reduce potential bruising or swelling.

What should I do after treatment?
No exercising or lying down for two hours after injections is recommended. Do not excessively touch the area that was treated for the first 4 hours after injection.

How will I look after the treatment?
Although the results are dramatic, treatments should not radically change facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed, so lines and wrinkles disappear, and smiles (and frowns) remain.

How long does it last?
The effects last for three to four months for most individuals. When the Botox treatment wears off, wrinkles and lines will gradually revert to pre-treatment appearance. Because Botox is a natural, purified protein, over time Botox is slowly absorbed and processed by the body.

How often do I need to be treated?
Lasting SkinSolutions recommends scheduling treatments about every three to four months to help maintain a consistent appearance.?
